Far Out Science (FOS) Public (U)nix Server

Deep underground in a tornado proof bunker far below the hills of Kansas.

A grassroots organization designed for Interactive Fiction (IF) enthusiasts, authors and writers that prefer a command line interface (shell account). Our system highlights Unix commands from the 70s and 80s along with their modern variants. Even this website has a text based presentation. UUCP is no longer viable but we do have a text based bulletin board system installed and resources for members to have personal websites, gopher sites, IRCs and phlogs. We support the playing and development of text based interactive fiction including Inform 6, Punyinform, Dialog and now Zilf/Zapf. (Note: we did have to splinch on the text based BBS. Due to functional issues and viability, we had to go with a more modern BBS.)

Now accepting applicatons from IF developers, authors and writers.

So, how do I join? The site is now out of beta. We are looking for IF developers, authors and writers that enjoy a retro style command line shell account. We provide a commercial quality (u)nix server that has ample system resources for coding and devleopment. If interested, fill out the signup form AND register at: FPU BBS. We will send your login credentials after a review of your application.
